Job security

Job security.  In today's climate this is something everyone wants and few people have.  In my opinion there are only a few ways to have this:

1.  Be the best in your field--think LeBron James.

2.  Work in a field where there is high demand and low supply, like nursing.

3.  Know something that other people don't know.  Like all the ins and outs of social media marketing.

You might not have a lot of control over #2 at this point in your career, but you sure can work to achieve 1 and 3.  The PAL program could be a great stepping stone.

Social media marketing is the next big thing in our industry but it is greatly under utilized AND there are very few people out there who really know that much about how to use it most effectively.

Most people know how to use their personal facebook accounts, but how many people know how to most effectively use facebook fan pages and marketplace to increase qualified traffic, leases and resident retention at a property?

And for that matter, how many people really know how to use Twitter, blogging, Yelp and other review sites, Foursquare and other geolocating programs, and video to create results at a property?

I don't.  And I'm guessing most of you don't either.

That's ok!  That's what this program is about!  You don't have to know those things already, the point is to learn about them and then put them into practice.  And there is no easy manual or SOP to follow.  It needs to be created by the PALs!

So don't be scared of this opportunity based on your current knowledge.  Focus on what there is to learn and how you'll learn it.  Become an expert in it and get results and guess what, you'll be creating job security!
