OMG, the snow is falling and PAL apps are due today!
We have received several apps and they are so excellent! I'm loving hearing about what you would like to do differently on the website and your thoughts on where social media can take us in the future. Lots of thoughtful responses and interesting points I'd never thought of!
There are still a few we haven't received that I was sure were going to apply. So, still expecting to hear from more of you today. If you are planning to apply but something has come up that will delay your application, please get with your RM. We don't want anyone who is interested to miss out on this opportunity!

Sadly, no picture, but please help me get my pan clean!
Well folks, guess you'll just have to imagine what I look like without makeup bc while we got the 20 followers on here, we only got to 18 on twitter. Epic fail as my super geek husband would declare!
PAL applications are due on Monday. We have received a couple and I've spoken with many others of you who assure me yours will be in by then. We are all so excited to see them!
I can honestly say, I have learned so much already! Before we started this I had never posted on You Tube, and now not only have I posted a video, I edited it first. That took roughly 20 hours, no joke, because I'm old.
I had a twitter account, but all I'd ever done with it was send out updates when my brother in law was in the hospital so I could update a lot of people at once instead of calling everyone, but now I understand the @ and the # functions, so #awesome @PRISM!
And I'd never blogged before. I love blogging. I'm even thinking about starting a personal one, so I can talk about personal things like this--I got new stainless steel pots for Christmas, and I love them, but I burnt on chicken on Sunday night and can't get it off. Every night I boil water and vinegar in it and a little more comes off, but come on, this is ridiculous! The instructions say to use warm soapy water and a soft rag. Um, yeah right! Any ideas???=)

The picture
Ok, I put on facebook last night that if we got 20 followers on here and on twitter by tomorrow I would post a picture of myself without make up and guess what? We have 20 followers on this blog!
Awesome job guys! Peer pressure is super effective isn't it? Or maybe it's just humiliation of a co-worker...
Either way, glad we could do it!
But, there are only 15 followers on Twitter. This is 6 more than yesterday which is great! But we need 20 if you want to see my scary face!
And I'll up the ante...if we can get to 30 followers, I'll scan and post a picture of me from highschool in my most super ugly and embarassing prom dress...teaser--it's gold lame...you know you want to see it!

Job security
Job security. In today's climate this is something everyone wants and few people have. In my opinion there are only a few ways to have this:
1. Be the best in your field--think LeBron James.
2. Work in a field where there is high demand and low supply, like nursing.
3. Know something that other people don't know. Like all the ins and outs of social media marketing.
You might not have a lot of control over #2 at this point in your career, but you sure can work to achieve 1 and 3. The PAL program could be a great stepping stone.
Social media marketing is the next big thing in our industry but it is greatly under utilized AND there are very few people out there who really know that much about how to use it most effectively.
Most people know how to use their personal facebook accounts, but how many people know how to most effectively use facebook fan pages and marketplace to increase qualified traffic, leases and resident retention at a property?
And for that matter, how many people really know how to use Twitter, blogging, Yelp and other review sites, Foursquare and other geolocating programs, and video to create results at a property?
I don't. And I'm guessing most of you don't either.
That's ok! That's what this program is about! You don't have to know those things already, the point is to learn about them and then put them into practice. And there is no easy manual or SOP to follow. It needs to be created by the PALs!
So don't be scared of this opportunity based on your current knowledge. Focus on what there is to learn and how you'll learn it. Become an expert in it and get results and guess what, you'll be creating job security!

Today
WHAT A BUSY DAY! If I haven't mentioned it lately, I LOVE The Ambassador!=)
I know we're all busy. I'm sure it may seem difficult to find the time to be fill out the PAL application, let alone BE a PAL, but here's the deal. This a fantastic career opportunity!
All the time we hear that our sales people want a new career path. Everyone wants to be an RSM. THIS is your chance to prove you are the right person for that job!
So, MAKE the time to do this and do it well. It's three months of more work, more time and more committment, but it could pay off big time!
